Gout Treatment
People of all ages suffering from Gout have overcome their issues with our revolutionary treatment of focused Shockwave and Magneto transduction therapy allowing them to become pain-free once more and free from the worry of flair ups and renewed agony.
Gout is a condition that mainly affects men over the age of 30, with the highest incidence occurring between the ages of 40 and 60. As physiotherapists, we have traditionally helped patients manage their gout symptoms through exercise programs to control weight and by advising on foods to avoid that may worsen the condition, after they have consulted with a doctor.
Now, we offer a new treatment approach for gout sufferers using shockwave therapy. Our gout shockwave treatment not only relieves symptoms but also aims to restore normal function and prevent future episodes, particularly during the acute phase of the condition. By using shockwave therapy, we can disrupt uric acid crystals present in the synovial fluid and deposited within joint tissues.

Shockwave Therapy for Gout
The aim of shockwave therapy for gout is to aid and accelerate the recovery process.
Shockwave also helps relieve pain associated with gout and stimulates new blood vessel formation, accelerating the body’s own natural healing process in inflamed tissue and encouraging speedy recovery from not just the pain, but swelling and redness too.
What’s more Shockwave therapy provides an analgesic effect that relieves pain and mobilises the angiogenic and nitric oxide substances to promote rapid recovery from the pain, swelling and redness.
Our clients report immediate relief that continues to improve over the next few days. Most clients require one treatment while others may require 3 to 12. This is all done in 30 minutes to one hour.

How Physiotherapy Can Help Treat Gout
Several clinical papers have studied the benefits of physical therapy as a treatment for gout. Here are a few examples:
- A systematic review published in the journal Physical Therapy in 2019 found that exercise therapy, including both strengthening and range of motion exercises, was effective in reducing pain and improving physical function in patients with gout.
- A randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of Clinical Rheumatology in 2016 compared the effectiveness of manual therapy and exercise therapy in the treatment of chronic gout. The study found that both manual therapy and exercise therapy were effective in reducing pain and improving joint function, but that exercise therapy was more effective in reducing inflammation.
- A randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery in 2019 compared the effectiveness of physical therapy modalities, including exercise therapy, manual therapy, and ice and heat therapy, in the treatment of gout. The study found that all of the physical therapy modalities were effective in reducing pain and improving function, but that exercise therapy was the most effective.
- A randomized controlled trial published in the journal Arthritis Care & Research in 2019 compared the effectiveness of a home exercise program and a supervised exercise program in the treatment of gout. The study found that both the home exercise program and the supervised exercise program were effective in improving physical function and reducing pain, but that the supervised exercise program was more effective in improving range of motion.

We administer EMTT through a handheld device that is placed over the affected area. The treatment is painless and non-invasive, and typically takes just a few minutes to complete. Patients may receive several EMTT sessions over the course of a few weeks, depending on the severity of their symptoms and the extent of their injury.
We are one of the few clinics in the country offering this as a solution to this painful condition and we recommend you book an appointment soon.
EMTT Therapy for Gout Treatment
We are now using ElectroMagnetic Transduction Therapy (EMTT) in conjunction with Shockwave therapy as we have found the combination of the two treatments especially effective for dealing with Gout.
EMTT therapy is particularly beneficial for gout sufferers because it can help to reduce inflammation and improve joint function. The electromagnetic waves used in EMTT therapy can penetrate deep into the affected joint tissues, helping to disrupt uric acid crystals and reduce inflammation.
Additionally, EMTT therapy can help to improve blood flow to the affected area, which can help to promote healing and reduce pain.
