Back Pain Treatment
Back pain is a prevalent ailment affecting people of all ages, with around 80% of the population experiencing it at some point in their lives. It is a leading cause of disability and can significantly impact an individual’s quality of life.
Our innovative treatment of focused Shockwave and Extracorporeal Magneto Transduction Therapy (EMTT) has helped people with Back Pain to conquer their issues, enabling them to achieve a pain-free existence without any difficulty.
Our back pain treatment is used for these conditions – Acute: Short-term pain lasting days or weeks, typically from an injury or strain. Chronic: Lasts over three months, caused by various factors, requires intensive treatment. Axial: Localized mechanical pain from muscle strains or ligament injuries. Radicular: Pain radiating along a nerve due to compression or irritation, linked to herniated discs or spinal stenosis.

Shockwave Therapy for Back Pain
Shockwave therapy for back pain treatment aids and accelerate the recovery process. We recommended you seek a consultation as early as possible, when you start suffering from back pain so we can find the cause and commence treatment, but shockwave therapy can also be administered if you have chronic back pain.
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate healing in the affected area. The treatment works by increasing blood flow, reducing inflammation, and promoting tissue repair, which can help to reduce pain and improve range of motion.
We use Focused Shockwave Therapy (fESWT) for back pain treatment rather than radial shockwave therapy due to its deeper penetration, precision, and energy delivery. Focused shockwaves target specific structures more accurately, especially in conditions affecting deeper tissues. They also deliver higher energy to the targeted area, promoting better healing and pain relief compared to the broader energy dispersion of radial shockwaves.
Shockwave Therapy & Back Pain Research
Here are some studies that demonstrate the benefits of shockwave therapy in different types of back pain treatment:
- Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP) – This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) for the management of CLBP. The researchers analysed data from 12 randomized controlled trials, which included a total of 826 participants. The authors concluded that ESWT could be considered a viable option for the treatment of CLBP, as it provides short- and medium-term benefits in terms of pain reduction and functional improvement.
- Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS) – A review of multiple studies on the topic, published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research in 2021, concluded that shockwave back pain treatment is an effective treatment for MPS. The review included 11 studies involving a total of 628 patients and found that shockwave therapy led to significant improvements in pain, function, and quality of life in patients with MPS.
- Lumbar Disc Herniation – A systematic review and meta-analysis of multiple studies on the topic, published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research in 2021, concluded that shockwave therapy is a safe and effective treatment for lumbar disc herniation. The review included 11 studies involving a total of 698 patients and found that shockwave therapy led to significant improvements in pain, disability, and quality of life in patients with lumbar disc herniation.
- Sacroiliac Joint Pain – This pilot study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of fESWT in treating sacroiliac joint pain. The results demonstrated that fESWT significantly reduced pain and improved functionality in patients with sacroiliac joint pain.
These studies are in line with our own experience of successfully treating patients suffering with back pain.
We administer EMTT through a handheld device that is placed over the affected area. The treatment is painless and non-invasive, and typically takes just a few minutes to complete. Patients may receive several EMTT sessions over the course of a few weeks, depending on the severity of their symptoms and the extent of their injury.
EMTT Therapy for Back Pain
We are now using ElectroMagnetic Transduction Therapy (EMTT) in conjunction with Shockwave therapy as we have found the combination of the two treatments especially effective for dealing with Back Pain.
EMTT is a non-invasive treatment that uses electromagnetic waves to stimulate healing in the affected area. The treatment works by producing a pulsed electromagnetic field that penetrates the tissues in the back and stimulates cellular activity.
This increased cellular activity can help to reduce inflammation, increase blood flow, and promote tissue repair, all of which can improve the symptoms of back pain. This makes it a safe and convenient treatment option for patients who are looking for a non-invasive alternative to more invasive treatments.
In a study examining EMTT for non-specific low back pain, patients received either conventional therapy or a combination of conventional therapy and EMTT. Both groups saw reduced pain and disability, but the EMTT-combined group had significantly better results. The study suggests EMTT as a promising option when combined with conventional therapy for low back pain and supports our own findings treating patients with back pain.
We are one of the few clinics in the country offering this as a solution in back pain treatment and we recommend you book an appointment soon.
